In the interests of fair play, I'll point out that my price at Amazon.ca was $38.39 Canadian (just over $39 US) and the shipping was only $4. So it seems like a push to me, except that Amazon has an unlimited quantity to ship out. Huh? On Amazon's site it says base/standard shipping to the U.S. for DVD's are $7.99 plus 1.99 per item, which totals $9.98 in shipping charges. That's nearly a $5 dollar savings with the EBay-VEI guy.

Yep, but I ordered two weeks ago and got four sets for various people and the total shipping was just under $16. Sure, I'll have to forward the others on at my expense, but media mail is so cheap it's not really an issue. I don't question good fortune when I don't understand it; I just smile gratefully!

Just for official sake on the board, it's $9.98 shipping for one set, and $1.99 more for each additional set at Amazon.ca. So right now, as it stands, you'll save around a little under $5 dollars with the EBay seller, however it seems Amazon orders are shipping alot quicker. So really it boils down to, do you want to pay a few extra dollars, and possibly get it quicker. As of now, I don't know if anyone has received their set off of EBay. But then again, the set doesn't technically officially hit shelves in Canada 'til tomorrow.

I think if you're in the US you're going to pay a little more. If you're in Canada, you'll get your set within 3 - 5 days.
My estimated arrival is Friday, but pretty sure I'll be getting mind on Wednesday.
I thought that the release date wasn't until Wednesday. OH well. can't complain. Just happy it's finally out.
Can anyone spread the details of the set? How is the photo gallery

Hey, I got mine, too!!!! ;D Strangely enough, while I had to go to the post office to pick up seasons 1 and 2, season 3 was delivered right to my door! On to the set itself.....I am somewhat disappointed that VEI has changed the packaging. Instead of the slim cases, we now get a plastic case with the discs "stacked" on top of each other. Makes it much harder to get the discs out and also makes them more likely to be scratched. Also, there is no book/episode guide this time! (Just the discs....that's it!) The picture gallery, or "slide show" as they call it, is nice, but that's all....If we were gonna have extras, I would have much preferred interviews and/or commentary from Daniel Hugh Kelly, Stephen J. Cannell, or Lawrence Hertzog. Or a "blooper reel," outtakes, etc. As far the episodes themselves, I've just sampled snippets from all of them, and, so far, they appear fine....just like seasons 1 and 2. So, while I'm very glad to have this set (of course!), the change in packaging, no book/episode guide, and lack of really good extras are all a little deflating. But hey, let's hop in the Coyote with Milt and Mark...and enjoy! ;D

Yea, I agree I don't care for the packaging much. I'm going to repackage them in the style more like the first two seasons were. The paper sheath comes out and I can put them in a different box and I can slide the lable in that. I am also making my own episode guide for each of the dvds so I know what's on them. Also the slide show is ok, but I also would have preferred a blooper reel or some comentary from Brian or Danny... maybe we can prod VEI into an addition with that and other extras on it??? just a thought!

Sorry to say it's not going to happen, folks. The STAR group was in touch with VEI (notice the nice little bit on the inside of the box) about a blooper tape and interviews. First, we located a copy of the blooper tape, but it won't be released to the public because of some questionable content. Next, there isn't any more material available; no old interviews, no outtakes, no nothing, because the series is twenty years old. Third, VEI couldn't afford to travel to where people are (Danny Kelly, Larry Hertzog, Victoria Keith) with a crew to interview them. It's a small company and I think they had to spend some bucks on the music rights, which short-changed the packaging budget. But we've got all three seasons on DVD, that's something I never thought would happen. Thanks, VEI!

That sux about the packaging. These aren't the cheapest sets in the world, and the last thing we want is scratched discs.
I guess look at the glass as half-full. We do have the entire series on DVD.

I got mine today off eBay guy, after having ordered it Thursday.
Again an "ick" about the packaging--less so for the lack of similarity to the rest of the sets and more the fact that the case insert has a good quarter inch of overhang and it ripped upon trying to get it out of the package. I ended up trimming it myself (oh, for want of a traditional paper cutter!) to make it fit. (Truth to tell I have similar packaging for some of my own self-made discs for other series, only in black.) It's just great seeing the episodes again. Now I have the whole series...a series I once thought would never, ever make it to DVD!
Overall, great stuff, and kudos to VEI on bringing these out. And also for keeping all of the original music...a real difference you can hear with "The Yankee Clipper," with Bob Seger and the Stones throughout. Chances are a U.S. release would've butchered these!
