And, at the VERY end of "Hate the Picture..." ...Look close - just as Santa does his "Ho Ho Ho" Milt puts his hand up to his mouth. Could it be? ? Milton C. Hardcastle, a.k.a SANTA CLAUS!!!!!!! ?

Here are more quotes from "Hate the Picture..."
Mark (to the Judge):You're going to go down in the Justice League of America Hall of Fame, Jack!
Mark: Aw, come on Judge, you gotta be kidding me. Now what kind of presents can you fit under a 12 inch tree? Judge: Presents? Presents? Don't get carried away, will ya. Mark: Aw, you must have been one heck of a kid. What d'ya do for Christmas anyway...bang your gavel and find your parents in contempt?
Mark (to the guy selling trees): We'll take that one. Listen, don't worry about him. He was traumatized by a department store Santa when he was a kid!
Mark (to the Judge who's sitting behind bars): Hey, uh...Who's this guy down here? - A member of your fan club? Judge: That's Ron Coe. I sent him up 8 years ago and it looks like he's back. Mark: It also looks like he's enjoying the reunion. Come to think of it, I bet you've got a lot of friends in there. I better get you outta there before one of them comes around and says "Thank You," you know what I'm sayin'?

Another scene I've always been fond of is from Man in a Glass House, in the den, when HC first returns home with The Book. Some of McC's classic lines:
After reading from Cadillac's book: "Well, that's a pretty fair description, if you want my opinion, Judge. I mean, I've been in your courtroom twice now, and you do look sorta apelike in your robes, glaring down, fingering your lip the way you do."
After HC tells him they're going after Cadillac: "Why? Why? Just because he called you a donkey? Judge, you are a donkey. You can't sue a guy for tellin' the truth."
And, after HC is trying to reassure him that mobsters are just regular guys, putting their pants on one leg at a time: "No, they don't. I've been in prison; I know. They hold the pants in front of 'em, and jump in. And the really mean ones do it blindfolded."
And through it all, HC is righteously indignant about Cadillac, mildly condescending toward McC, and--of course--has zero concern for the kid's objections.

And, as goofy as the tag was in this ep, I've always thought McC's follow-up gift, "From one ex-con to another", was hysterical. Though, of course, the appellation was a little premature on McC's part--the judge wasn't actually convicted of anything ;-)

One more bada-bing sequence from "Hate the Picture . . ."
H: Where's the car? M: In the shop. H: What shop? M: The pawn shop.
With, as the backdrop, the Volkswagen from hell.

I've always wondered if anyone else had that same horrifying thought! I've also wondered if they had him do that intentionally or it was just serendipity. Who cares? It's one of the best epilogs they ever did (in my own little worthless opinion!).

LOL! ;D But what kinda music do you think blasts from this thing? The soundtrack from Hair? Hey, I love the soundtrack from Hair!! Well, yeah, and I suppose you could start quite the philosophical discussion on how something like "Easy To Be Hard" might relate to the psyche of the characters, or something. Though I'd be more interested in seeing HC's expression if the lyrics blaring from the speakers were, "glibby glup gloopy, nibby nabby noopy, la la la lo lo"!

Okay, I'd actually put the Diet Pepsi down before reading the posts, but it still makes my throat hurt to laugh this loud.
Who else remembers those deathless lyrics and how many could sing the whole song? I mean, really, an "early-morning singin'-song"?
(And have I ever mentioned what a pleasure it is to deal with folks who use words like "whit"? )

And I think this should be our new motto when discussing the canon: "It doesn't have to make a whit of sense." Maybe on an escutcheon, in Latin even.
