Hi there. I'm Colin and just joined this great looking site yesterday. I'm now member 11!! Nice to be amongst the first of the members as I'm sure our numbers will go wild once the Season One DVD set is released!! Just wish they'd announce a release date!
Anyway, I was wondering what other vintage TV shows everyone is into. My general taste is quite varied but I've always been of the opinion that if something's good then it's always good!
Sticking to U.S shows my DVDs/videos consist mainly of MASH, The Rockford Files, Starsky & Hutch, Hunter, The A Team & Magnum, P.I. Still feel quite quilty for liking The A Team at 35!!
What shows (apart from H & M) are in your collections?
Best wishes to all - it's nice to be on board!
Colin (Hardcase1970).

Hiya, Colin, and welcome. Looks like we're all in this together, from the ground floor, as it were. And, yes, I am hoping there will be a huge uprising of fandom with the release of the DVDs.
As for other shows: I have watched all of those that you mentioned, though S&H is the only one I've broken down and bought on DVD. I've been thinking I need to add Rockford to my collection; James Garner is kind of a cool dude, you know.
Others that are in my DVD collection: Star Trek (only TOS so far), MacGyver, The Pretender, Wiseguy, Ponderosa, Quantum Leap. That might be it for the discs. Oh, and 24, though that hardly qualifies as "vintage" just yet, just darn good television.
But, oh, if I only had the funds to add all the discs I'd like to have. Truly, for all its flaws, television is pretty amazing; lots of really good stuff out there. Season One of H&M will be my next DVD purchase (if all goes as they say it will), but after that, I'd like to get Sports Night, I think. It's a funny, intelligent show.
Glad you're here, and I'm looking forward to chatting with you more.

Hi Colin! Welcome aboard! It's great to see our member base grow!
As far as my other favorites, I enjoy a wide variety too:
The Greatest American Hero, MASH, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Magnum, Rockford, McHale's Navy, The Bob Newhart Show & well, the list goes on...
SJC created some great shows! It's nice to see them make their way to DVD!

I'm a little surprised that no one's mentioned "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." yet. That was one I never missed. "I Spy" was another favorite (am I showing my age here with these picks?) and a little later down the time stream was "Harry O". The most recent show I was a devotee of was "Nero Wolfe" on A&E. Makes me glad H&McC ran three seasons so it got into syndication, whence our lovely DVDs!

Oh, yeah, I enjoyed I Spy and UNCLE, also. And, slightly related, it's really nice to see David McCallum in NCIS these days; he's still cool.

Hi Cheri
You may be interested to know that the R2 (english) DVD set of Starsky & Hutch Season 4 is being released on 13/02/06 (via amazon.co.uk). I've just been to Amazon.com to search for the R1 set but it isn't listed as yet, however, if your player is multi regional then you could have new DVD sets of both S&H & H&M in the same month. ;D

Hey, Colin, thanks for the info. Sadly, my player is not multi-regional. I wish my computer would allow me to swap regions as many times as I want, but since there's a very small limit, even that isn't really a reasonable way to watch discs from other regions. I guess I will have to content myself with just H&M. (which really, will make me very content, indeed!)

I spent my teen years taping (it seems like) everything on TV. I taped Magnum PI, Hardcastle & McCormick, MacGyver, Simon & Simon, Remington Steele, Matt Houston, Airwolf, Knight Rider, Miami Vice, The Fall Guy, The Six Million Dollar Man, Riptide, Adam-12, Emergency!, Star Trek...the list goes on and on! If I had known that DVD's would be available 20 years into the future, I could have saved A LOT of money on video tapes, especially since tapes were $10.00 a piece in 1980! But, I wouldn't trade them for anything. I have all the original promos and commercials. I'm amazed at how little the VHS quality has degraded. I laugh when I watch some of them because my 1st VCR, of course, was mono. Wow, what a trip down memory lane I've been taking lately!

I believe I saw software that allows you to play various regions on your computer's DVD drive.

Thanks, I may have to look into that. Being able to watch discs from any region might come in handy.

My favorite series really haven't changed much over the years, although I've added a few new ones. Sadly, not all are available on DVD.

There are an astonishing number of Tenspeed and Brownshoe fans, considering if you blinked, you missed that show. How many (or should I say 'few'?) episodes was it on for? It was funny, well-written, and well-acted.

Oh, and Liz, where'd you get your avatar? That's not a picture I've seen before, with the doors up like that.

It was funny, well-written, and well-acted. Well, TV.com says 14 episodes. The site also refers to it as "One of the odder TV partnerships". Yeah, I suppose, but seriously, I never understood why it didn't do better. I mean seriously, Ben Vereen and Jeff Goldblum? Jeez, they were great.

Wow, I didn't even think it made it to the half-season mark. It is, well-deservedly, a cult classic.
