We lost 3 greats this week: Don Knotts, Darrin McGavin, and Dennis Weaver. RIP gentlemen.

Honestly, I was a big Darren McGavin fan before I knew he was from Spokane. I remember watching "Riverboat" when I was a tot. The others I'm sure were fine people, but he's the one I was really sad about.

Oh, he was so good in that porkpie hat of his on 'The Night Stalker'. I personally, always associate him as Mad Buck Gibson the same titled episode from Season Two of Magnum, P.I. Sad news.

Liked them all so much I collect a lot of classic shows on DVD. To pay tribute to these gentlemen, I had a "black-and-white night" and watched them all in their prime: -Watched Knotts on an episode of "The Andy Griffith Show" (I now have all of the b&w episodes on DVD) -Watched Weaver on "The Twilight Zone" (episode "Shadow Play".....complete with commentary from Weaver done just last year....excellent!) -Watched McGavin on "Alfred Hitchthingy Presents" (episode "The Cheney Vase") Great actors, great fun. I don't know about you guys, but I would much rather watch these great stars and shows than 99% of the sludge of regular TV today. Thank God for DVD!

wasnt dennis weaver the traveling salesman driving the plymouth valient in spielbergs first movie "duel"?
great movie, sorry to see all those guys go
heres a comical line from an old comedy cop song i think of every time i hear of don knotts....
"law enforcement is his life, he's got an autographed picture of uh.....barney fife!"
RIP guys
(BTW that song is called "super cop" by ray stevens, but i t kind of would fit the judge as well cause theres a line that says "hes got a 63 gmc that he hand painted black and white" i think of old hardcase every time i hear that line too LOL" (i know milts is a 56-59 or something like that but a 63 isnt that much different)

I had heard about Don Knotts and watched some of the Andy Griffith marathon tribute to him today on TVLand, but I didn't know about Darrin McGavin & Dennis Weaver. Very sad. Isn't it weird how celebrity deaths always seem to come in threes? (Hum "The Twilight Zone" theme to youself here to lighten the mood.)
