I'm not sure if this is the right board on which to say this, but I got word that Stephen J. Cannell (who was, of course, known for "Hardcastle," as well as for "The A-Team," "Riptide," "Hunter," and quite a few other series) is dead @ 69, apparently from melanoma. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_J._Cannell

I've just seen it on Wikipedia, too, and I'm lost for words. All the best to his family in this difficult time. One of television's greatest has left us. This ist a sad day!

So it is. I do have "Hardcastle" in full on DVD, and I thought that it was one of his greatest works; I might like to get more of his work on DVD in the future.

Yes, it is a sad day indeed. And in less than three years, we've lost Larry Hertzog and Stephen Cannell. He was such a nice man, as well as a gifted writer and he won't be forgotten.

Sometimes I think this board is dead, too. We've got 265 members, and hardly anybody came here to comment on Cannell's death. Well, maybe they are all stilll struck by the news...

I just found out about Stephen J. Cannell and was shocked. He created some amazing shows and I most recently saw him on Castle. He will be missed and my heartfelt sympthy goes out to his family and friends.

I'm an admin, and I'm guilty. I'll be honest...I didn't even know until today (11/20/10). In a nutshell, my mind has been elsewhere...I lost my job a few months ago and have had a few medical problems to boot. I had surgery and I'm fine now, but I had to sell a lot of personal belongings on eBay (including H&M collectibles) to pay for a health-club membership. On the bright side, I'm starting a career training program early next year. It looks as if I won't be able to continue paying for the main site after this year expires. This message board will remain however. My apologies, and thank you all for visiting it. It was nice to know I played a very tiny part in bringing awareness to the "Star for Brian" effort via links from the hardcastleandmccormick.tv website. I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving. ~Barb

Very sorry to hear about the health problems (and sorry to be late in offering my sympathies -- we've been without a connection for more than a week) and hope you're "in the pink" now and for the future. Rest assured, you did indeed play a big part in getting Brian's star and it was so good to meet up with you, even if briefly, in L.A. Hope you can make it for the 5th anniversary fan reunion in 2013. Maybe by then we'll have our internet connection back, too!
