In the early minutes of the pilot, Sara and Hardcastle are having a talk, and Sara worries about a possible lack of space for Hardcastle's case files. Hardcastle reminds her to "index them by name, age, and crime."
There is something that I'd like to know about this scene, and that is, how do you index a judge's case files the way Hardcastle wanted Sara to do-- that is, "by name, age, and crime"?

Maybe like: McCormick, Mark; 1982; grand theft auto?

You can also do what I believe is called cross-indexing. McCormick, Mark would have a duplicate filed under Grand Theft Auto, and another under the date of the offense. I think the date was so they could work on the older ones first and hope to catch up to present day wrong-doers over time.
