Walk right in, set right down, baby let your mind roll on. Or is everybody too old to remember that? Anyway, welcome!

Walk right in, set right down, baby let your mind roll on. Or is everybody too old to remember that? Anyway, welcome! All right, absolutely, 100% OT, but I was listening to some hold music yesterday on a conference call at work. I've already forgotten what they were playing, "She Loves You", or maybe "I Wanna Hold Your Hand". Something. Anyway, these two other folks are engaged in this ongoing conversation about the "weird" music that they've never heard. OMG. I about fell over. "It's the Beatles!" I practically screamed at them in dismay, then simply rolled my eyes and began muttering something about being surrounded by children. Can you possibly imagine what would happen if I should mention Hardcastle and McCormick?

You're serious? My heavens, I remember visiting a winery in Oregon (although this was a few years ago) and the young lady behind the counter was singing along to one of their songs. I said something about her not being old enough to know the lyrics and she said "Oh, no. I grew up with this stuff. It's classic." Maybe the young people you overheard just weren't exposed to the classics when they were kids. Poor things.

Are you kidding, my kids love the Beatles, Elton John and Billy Joel. My 16 yr. old actually came with me to Barry Manilow's final concert last year ( tickets courtesy of her piano teacher) and the strangest thing was that we saw her best friend there with HER mother.

Yup, yup, my son is a big fan of 'The Who' and, oh I love this, has the 'best of' Journey album, and STOLE my Beatles #1 album (took me weeks to think to look for it in his collection). Meanwhile, I love that (as McC put it) 'hopelessly sterile' big band music from my mom's era. If it's good, it lasts, eh?

My best friend and I also saw Barry on that tour (the actual final show; sorta sad, but I digress even further), and we were surprised at the time by the number of children we saw there. I mean, it's not like it was a playground, or anything, but there were enough kids around that we commented on it. My kid, however, merely rolls his eyes when I pop in the Manilow CDs. But he did borrow hubby's Pink Floyd to upload into his iPod. Oh, well.
