Hey, what software are you using, and are you happy with it? I've got AVS video converter, and it works just fine, it's just kind of slow. I'd probably convert more if it went faster. (Though, I suppose in some ways, that's just as well. My ipod would probably be filled up with TV shows if it were simple as pie. :-) )

I use CloneDVD Mobile. You can download a free 21-day trial here: www.slysoft.com/en/clonedvd-mobile.htmlIt's pricey ($62.00)...but worth it if you can afford it. The company is located in Antigua (West Indies), but I have not had any problems with them at all. They are constantly improving and updating their products, and the customer service is great. I re-booted my computer once and they were quick to respond to my e-mail requests for assistance.

I wouldn't mind being able to do that if I had an ipod, but the only downside to that is how small the ipod screen is. Who would want to watch their favourite shows on a screen that is only like the width and height of your thumb?
I think if they made an ipod that is a bit bigger for watching videos, I'd be all for it. And I think you'd have to have a huge hard drive to fit all your favourite episodes cuz they can be pretty darn big files.

I really only watch videos on my ipod when I'm on my exercise bike or if I'm having trouble falling asleep. It's great to exercise and have something to watch. My screen is 2.5" diagonal whereas the Nano is 2" diagonal. The Zune is probably the largest on the market at 3.2" diagonal.
In the rare instances where I am watching a video in public, it does make for a great conversation piece...
Stranger: "What are you watching?"
Me: "Hardcastle and McCormick"
"Stranger: "Oh how cool! I used to LOVE that show. I haven't seen it in years. I wish some body would rerun it."

Does anybody know of any programs I can download that don't have any viruses or anything, and no trial periods, and all that?
I wanna try to make some digital files from my dvds so I can put em into a portable device if possible, but they make you pay for the program and all that. I'm trying to figure out a way to make files of em for my own use, not to trade with anyone, or anything like that. I just wish I knew a program that was easy to use, and that I could make some files cuz I'd love to watch these shows on the go once I get a portable device.
If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it.

The only FREE DVD to MP4 (iPod Video) software I ever heard of was Handbrake. I never tried it because it looked too complicated. I think you still need to use a decrypter though. handbrake.fr/
