This is a 1983 ABC promo for the premiere of "Hardcastle and McCormick," which premiered on Sundays that Fall. I think that this was a promo for the pilot, 9/18/83. ABC's slogan at that time was "That Special Feeling." www.youtube.com/watch?v=kc0pH_xk2TM

That's great! It looks to me like they were already ad-libbing a bit, too. Thanks for sharing!

I liked it myself, as a matter of fact, and that's one reason why I shared it. The other is that this was once available only in a mediocre-quality version from 80stvthemes.com (I found it in the mainframe, I believe), and so I was pretty happy when this version appeared.

That was super, what a great promo, they had such an easy banter even then.

I had neveer seen this one, the banter is the one thing I loved the most about this show. This add definitely shows the characters off well. Thank you for sharing.

Where did you find such a gem? That was awesome! ;D I had originally found a RealPlayer clip of it from the mainframe of 80stvthemes.com (after doing a little digging)-- unfortunately, that version was of mediocre picture quality and kind of hard to make out. This YouTube version is much more true to life, almost as if you were taken in a time machine back to 1983 and you were watching television at that time. Ernie Anderson's announcement that it was to premiere on Sundays for the 1983 Fall season was, at least in my opinion, delivered in such a way that you couldn't help but look forward to the premiere-- in a sense, you couldn't help but count the days until it arrived. It holds even more historical significance, IMHO, now that we have all of the series on DVD.

Ernie Anderson!!! What a voice! That clip just brought back wonderful memories of my childhood. Ernie WAS the voice of ABC.
All of a sudden I find myself humming "Still The One"... ;D
(Does anyone else know what I'm referring to???)

I think that it came from the '70's or early '80's.

The Still the One promos ROCKED....I remember always pretending when I was little that I could be in one of them. That was a great slogan and song.

Thank you very much. Unfortunately, I cannot see them very well without broadband, as they seem to be rather large clips. I'm only on dialup. If I had broadband, I could see them kind of quickly. Unfortunately, my family cannot get broadband out here yet.

I'm new to this site...and just saw these promos for the first time. WOW! What fun! This was the best part of the show--the chemistry and easy dialogue between BK and DHK. Thanks so much for sharing these!
