I'd like to ask this about the "Rolling Thunder" pilot of "Hardcastle and McCormick"-- to the best of your remembrance, was it presented as an ABC Sunday Night Movie when it originally aired 9/18/83? To put it another way and possibly jog your memory, the opening of the Sunday Night Movie then used the "Star Tunnel" opening titles. Were these "Star Tunnel" titles on the original broadcast?

Actually, I think it was aired as a Sunday Night Movie in January of 1983, then re-run as the pilot episode in September. I seem to recall that it originally ran directly after the Superbowl game, then they used the next few months to shoot the rest of the season.

If I read you correctly, owlcroft, are you saying that ABC broadcast this pilot as a Sunday Night Movie following the end of NBC's broadcast of SB17 (as I recall, NBC was the one that did SB17 1/30/83), shot the rest of the season after that, and then rebroadcast it 9/18/83?

Didn't see it myself, football's not my sport. But I'm pretty sure it ran right after the Superbowl (whichever network was on) as a "preview" for the series being shot to air in the fall. Then, they ran RT again in September to start the first season off.

Okay, now I see where you're coming from. Thank you for the clarification.

Wrong, sorry, I'm an idiot! It premiered as most shows do, in September. The pilot was re-shown after the Superbowl in 1984, Jan 22nd. Sorry!

The pilot was not shown after the Super Bowl in 1984. The Super Bowl was on CBS in 1984, and the pilot movie for "Airwolf" premiered directly after the Super Bowl. January 22nd I believe.
So I don't know where you're getting this info...

We just found out that the "A-Team" pilot ran right after Superbowl 1983, so that might have something to do with it. Most if it's all third-hand memories from 25 years ago.
