Why was Sarah taken off the show after 1983 episodes? It's one of the great mysteries. Really, sometimes television producers/writers/etc annoy me. (sometimes? Hah.) Anyway, the point is, they create this show hoping people will be interested enough to watch, but then they don't stop to consider the possibility that we'll be interested enough to care when people just drop out of existence. What is up with that? But I digress. I will tell you that my belief has always been that it was simply a logistical decision. Sarah would always have been an bit character; the show just wasn't designed to allow anything different. But the problem with characters like that is that they can get in the way, especially if you've set up a situation where they're living with the main characters. Now if you don't want them around-- which often you won't, for dramatic purposes-- then you have to explain their absence. It just gets to be a hassle. I think they probably just decided it was easier not to mess with her at all. I'm not sure I agree with that decision, if that's what it was (and I certainly don't agree with the way it was done), but, from the writing perspective, I can understand it.
