Remember how I thought about plunking down the money to get S2 of "Hardcastle and McCormick"? Well, I've been having second thoughts about it, what with the reports of a countrified version of "Back to Back" on the titles. Will that affect my viewing experience in any way?

Nah, you just speed search through the credits. It's not on all of them, anyway. Apparently, fans back then got a little upset about it, too, and they changed, first, to the other version of "Back to Back" and then to "Drive" after just a few episodes.
You'll enjoy them!

Thanks for the confirmation, owlcroft. One other thing-- is S2 the season where the Cannell logo is modified to the more widely recognized version in which the camera starts on Cannell's face, then turns away from him, slowly panning around the office, until it gets to a rear view of him and the typewriter, at which point Cannell throws out the piece of paper, and the logo finishes as normal? You know, for some reason, I actually Liked the back to back theme, probably because of the lyrics and they showed really good archive footage of the show.

The country-version of "Back To Back" is only on some episodes, and it's not NEAR as bad as these folks around here will tell you.
Get Season 2, it's the best season!

Well, I have to at least partly disagree. Speaking as both a country music fan as well as someone who loves the Back to Back theme, I have to say that the hillbilly version is every bit as bad as folks have said! On the other hand, Yankeeclipper is right about all the rest of it: it doesn't show up all that much, and it certainly isn't even close to a reason to think about not getting S2. No way it's worth giving up "Ties My Father Sold Me", "You and the Horse you Rode in On", "Hate the Picture Love the Frame", and--of course-- "The Birthday Present". The set is definitely worth the purchase. :-)

I'm NOT a country music fan, and I don't think it's that bad.
Is it as good as Scarbury's version? No.
But still... it fits that 80's Cannell cheese even in it's country music version.
Plus like Cheride said, it's only on SOME episodes. Scarbury's version plays more. Plus, keep in mind, the show went back to "Drive" half-way through the season.
Would the singer of the country music version, possibly been Larry Gatlin?
