You know I couldn't be more excited that VEI is going to do the entire series. Release Season 2 in Aug./Sept. and possibly Season 3 in the winter.
I've dreamed of having the entire series on DVD for so long, and when I even mentioned the name "Hardcastle and McCormick", most people had no clue what show I was talking about, and when I described it to them, they still didn't, and for a long time I felt like I was the only person that remembered this great show, the show that was my favorite TV series of all time.
It's also such a blessing to have VEI doing these sets. They may be Canada-only, and they may be small, but they are putting much more effort, care, and detail in these sets, then a big studio ever would. This show was on for three seasons, and i've seen shows on for 10+ and get worse treatments for big companies.
When VEI asked for pics of the DeLorean-Coyote from Seasons 2 & 3 to try and incorporate the new car for the box art, they just goes to show they are paying attention. Most companies would've just slapped new publicity shots of the 1st Season car on Seasons 2 & 3, and just let it be inconsistant.
I can't wait for these sets. Season 2 was my fav.

Can't wait! It'll be nice to see clear copies of these episodes. Here in the UK we never got anything after season 1 (and depending on where in the country you were, barely that unless you were willing to stay up until 2 in the morning - of course I did, need you ask ) Not sure I'll be able to cope with clear bright pictures instead of 3rd/4th generation copies. Might just have to take a few days sick from work to recover!!!

Hello ajk.
Nice to see a fellow brit on board!! I used to think I was the only UK fan of H&M in existance. I know what you mean about the first season. I can clearly recall watching 'The Homecoming' on two sunday nights at around midnight on ITV in March/April 1985. That was the last time the show was seen in the UK, well London anyway (with the exception of the pilot which was shown on selective ITV regions).
Hope you enjoy your S1 set when it arrives (I'm sure you will!!)

I know exactly what you mean. When I mention Hardcastle and McCormick I usually hear, "Oh, that show with the red sports car that they created to compete with Knight Rider." Oh!, that burns me up! Even worse..."That show with the guy who used to be on 'Family Affair'."

You mean I wasn't the only one sitting there waiting for 'the untouchables' to finish to get part two of 'The homecoming' Sure felt like it at the time!! Yep I clearly remember this being the last episode aired in the London area. It can be odd being a fan of Hardcastle and Mccormick in the UK - mention almost any other 80's show and most people will have a rough idea of what you're talking about, but mention Hardcastle and its a blank look all the way. At least that's been my experiance. Shame the show was treated so badly over here - it would have been one of the biggest imported 80's shows going if they'd given it a chance.

You're right about the show not being given a fair crack of the whip. H&M was ignored whilst other (lesser shows IMHO) such as Knight Rider & Dukes of Hazzard) thrived? Very strange. I think that you have to be at least thirtysomething to remember the show in the U.K. And yes, re the homecoming, you certainly were not alone. I clearly recall part two running later than advertised that sunday. It was due to start at 12.25am but there was a depressing programme before it on ITV called Breadline Britain which overan so H&M started at 12.45 and although I saw Part 2 my video recorder (which was on timer) missed the last few minutes!! I was not happy!! I had The Homecoming on video for quite a while then one day it got recorded over. If I knew at the time that I would not see H&M again (in any format) for many years, then I would have cherished that d**n tape!! It's funny (in a kind of sad way) the way I can recall all this!!!!

"That show with the red sports car... they just copied KNIGHT RIDER, and it wasn't near as good". When they say that I wanna slap 'em one just like the judge did to Mark in "Georgia St. Motors"! Granted, I like "KR" also. I own all four seasons on DVD. But "H&McC" was NOTHING like "KR", and it also was about 100 bazillion times better. The Coyote was cool, but it was just Mark's car. Nothing more. I think even when the show was made they began to resent the car. I think that's why they did what they did in "When I Look Back On All The Things".

August/September is cool just dissapointed that someone at VEI told the admin here it was coming july 10th. cuz we were so close to release it seemed, but as each day went by this week it seemed less and less likely not being able to pre-order it. I let it be known elsewhere July 10th was the date using this info from VEI and now i feel bad. Oh well they will live i suppose.

See, that's the problem. I know I got that same info from two sources (July 10, I mean) and I told other people and they told other people and I guess that's why tvshowsondvd went to VEI. Of course, I put three calls into VEI myself, but the person in charge of HC&McC was 1) at lunch, 2) in a meeting, 3) would absolutely call me back but didn't. Sorry if I added to the confusion, but I really did try to go straight to the source on this. At least, we now have a semi-definite date to hope for!

owlcraft: no problem man you were only passing along the information which we all appreciated it is VEI's fault but i dont want to blame them to much since they are all doing us a favor releasing hardcastle for us. We will all live and just look forward to the new date when that is announced

Well they are not necessarily doing us a 'favor' so to speak. We are paying them a nice profit for these sets. It's a 50/50 thing.
But I will say i've been very very pleased in their willingness to try and please fans and respect the show, much more than any big stupid would respect their top series.
These guys have been very particular so far.

Okay, so here's the official word -- Season Two will be released on August 8. There are no extras, but they have gotten the rights to "all the original music". As before, please do us a favor and go through the STAR site to order from Amazon; we're checking into the EBay seller now, so if you'd rather buy from EBay -- well, we're set up to help you do that, too, on the STAR site. More details later!

I can't believe that it still doesn't show up on Amazon.ca yet. Very aggravating.
