You know what I would've really like to have seen, just once? McCormick in a cowboy hat and the judge in a deerstalker. Well, it wasn't on this series, but if you check out the pilot for MURDER SHE WROTE, you can see Brian in a deerstalker!

Okay, now I've got to find a deerstalker shot! Speaking of hats, did anyone ever figure out why the Blue Jays cap? I mean, it's not like they were even a good team at that point.

In 1985, the Toronto Blue Jays won the American League east and subsequently lost to Kansas City in the ACLS....so they did do pretty good. Not sure if that's why he wore the hat...perhaps his theatre career took him to Toronto for a time...they do have a pretty reputable theatre district.

Speaking of hats, did anyone ever figure out why the Blue Jays cap? I mean, it's not like they were even a good team at that point. Well, I always thought the Jays cap was a little strange myself, though, as skidfan points out, it's not like they were terrible or anything. I don't remember exactly when it was that McC was sporting that particular look, but I do think the Jays were mostly posting winning seasons by that point (though it seems it was pretty close at times.) But, hey, fast forward, um, I don't know, six or seven years or so, and an Okie won the Series for them, so we say "Go, Bue Jays!" But, beyond all that, I have to agree with whoever it was earlier in the thread who said that ball caps in general weren't really a good look for Mark. Way too much hair to really make that work all that well. Besides, I'd just as soon see the hair.

I was thinking that maybe DHK went to Toronto that year and got a bluejays cap and decided to wear it on the show.
Were the hats the actors wore theirs, or was it supplied by the costume designers.
You're all saying that BK's hats were his, but what about his baseball caps. And DHK's fedora-type hat was his as well. I really like him in that hat, especially while he's wearing his sunglasses.

Karma for you, Cheri. Now, if you can find us Joe Santos in a deerstalker, we can all die happy. ;-)

Thanks, Cheride, for coming through for us yet again! Somehow, I just knew he'd look good in a deerstalker. (I think they were originally called travelling caps, because you could lower the flaps to keep your ears warm.) Hey, if I said I wanted to see DHK in a Speedo . . . no, that's already been done!
And I guess my point about the Blue Jays (who'd just become a decent team two years earlier) was that it was extremely unusual for anyone to be a fan outside of Toronto. It also smacked a bit of being a front-runner to be wearing a cap unless you'd been a fan through all the horrible years when they were first starting up. Oh, maybe it was a veiled slap at the Yankees! They're in the same division and when the Jays won the AL East in 1985, that means the Yankees . . . wait and I'll look it up . . . yep. The mighty Yanks finished second to Toronto that year, so I'll bet it was just a gentle reminder to the Yankee fan on the set. Hah!

Was DHK a yankee fan, and showed a little sour grapes that year the bluejays won the penant?

Nah, that doesn't work. You wouldn't wear the opposing team's cap and besides, they didn't win the pennant in 1985, only the divisional title. I'm still thinking it was a way to twit BK about the Yanks.

I like Milt with the cowboy hat the most.
I like Mark with the Bruce Springteen red trucker's cap.

I'm still thinking it was a way to twit BK about the Yanks. Yeah, if he was going to bandwagon, he would've wore a Kansas City Royals cap. Who won the pennant & the series. Although it might've been some wishful thinking for the Cubbies to go all the way in 1985 with a Ron Cey guest appearence on the series, the year after the Cubs made it to their first post-season appearence in 36 years, in 1984, the season earlier. As for the sports-hat discussion, I actually preferred to see Hardcastle in that classic blue LA Dodgers hat he wore towards the end of Season 3. It always shocked me that he didn't wear that the entire series, instead of the Yankee cap, seeing how he was in LA, and already rooted for both the Lakers & Raiders. Except for that one-off Boston Celtics stuff in "McCormick's Bar & Grill".

Didn't he wear a Lakers jacket at the beginning of "Beholder"? Or was that out on the patio at the very end of "If You Could See"? I know there was a basketball jacket in those, but can't be sure which team.

Yeah, he wore a Laker jacket in "Beholder". Not sure about "IYCSWIS", haven't seen it in awhile.
"Beholder" is more memorable, because he was trying to watch the game with a constantly interrupting Mark.
