A brief foray into the federal records, and then a trip to New Jersey. What more could you want? I love this great escape. Of course, it's right before he races off in the customized, one-of-a-kind car with the name emblazoned on the side and yet still makes a clean getaway, so he probably didn't really need all the theatrics. The judge clearly isn't pleased. I really like this whole scene a lot; there's an amazing level of trust displayed on both sides, and it's all fairly understated. Very well done. Ah, the one and only Sonny Daye. Mark's got his proof, though by this point, he's not much happier about it than Sonny. Is it wrong of me to say I was sort of hoping for just one little head crack? "My name in lights . . ." " . . .my dad's name, same thing . . ." Boy, he's riding a high. And wouldn't we all-- including Milt-- give just about anything to spare him the letdown to come?

Oh, my, you picked some winners there. Okay, Mark looks way better in basic black than Sonny does. Oh, and so right, the one-of-a-kind getaway vehicle. The watch! The dressing room scene! That's a nice bit of staging with Hardcastle reflected in the mirror, looking kind of majorly grim at Sonny's absolute cluelessness.
Okay, now in the final scene, yeah, he's gotta read the letter out loud so we know what's going on but, really, think about that. Here he's just been handed the pink slip by his father for the second time in his life, and he just spills it, no hesitation, right then and there, in public, to someone to whom he was just bragging about the guy. Total, absolute humiliation. 'Not only is my father a complete jerk, but I am an incredibly bad judge of character and a sap.' Whew. Angst on a plate with parsley. But also a helluva lot of trust.

Ugh, they are fantastic cap choices! I skimmed this ep recently, but have to find time to go back and watch properly. And lmlewis you're so right about his humility, he is an incredibly open character... he can be thingyy when he's winning but there's no.. bravado when he's lost, no bitterness... just misery i guess. Poor Mark. I love Milt leading him away with a hand on his shoulder at the end, and poor Mark's expression. Oh, and good point about the jumping-through-the-window lark, lol. But hey, if i ever broke in somewhere i'd probably jump out through a window too, just for the heck of it. ;D (lol! the bad-word replaced something that wasn't a bad word! i was saying the word for 'headstrong', that kinda includes a bad word and i guess it... oh nevermind. I think i'll leave it, i like the fact that my message says 'thingyy', hee.)

Beautiful capping job and great captions to go with them. I agree with everything said so far, but will not go so far as to start using "thingyy" instead of "donkeyy"!

'He's a stone-cold hay-bearing thingy.'
It's got a bit of a ring to it, actually.

Mark is so hot in that all black look. You really see how the two men have progressed in their relationship in this episode. The whole breaking and entering thing, no real yelling here by the Judge. I love all the fanfic that discusses what was done and how to cover this up.
I don't particularly care for Sonny, but I thought Steve Lawrence did a good job of portraying him. You know, you have to think that Milt caught on to Sonny's basic nature quickly, despite his attempts to talk the guy up. But you've got to admire the way Milt handled it. Would it have hurt to have just one righteous punch? Just one?
