I hope everyone stops by www.cannell.com to get their Hardcastle and McCormick screensavers!

I will say, I sort of like the look, but I don't have clue one what that place is supposed to be. But I think that's the same art they're using on the DVD, so I guess we better get used to it. Also, I had this set up as my screensaver for a while, but something didn't mesh too well between it and the rest of my system; it was always freezing up, so I finally had to take it off.

I think I've seen that building in some of the publicity photos people have been selling on eBay. I don't think the building showed up in the series (but I can't back that up 100% without more research). Perhaps, when they were doing publicity photos before the show aired, they needed a courthouse-looking building and viola!

It really does look like a high school, though (maybe the one in "Homecoming"?). My question is _why_ does it strike us all as a high school instead of a municipal building, say Department of Sewer Inspection? The County Seat where I live looks a lot like this building, but we all think "high school" when we see it.

Well, that's a good question, since it really doesn't look anything at all like the high schools in my hometown. (and probably not like a HS in Clarence, either) Maybe it's the one used in Room 222, or some other piece of collective subconscious.

It's a standard sort of high school architecture from around here but, also, the doors are standing wide open, which, in the days before metal detectors and high security, was a pretty common thing during the times of day when a lot of kids were going in or out. In addition, the second floor windows are open which, to me says no air conditioning, which also means a school around here. Grown-ups won't put up with that sort of thing ;-)
