Hello, all. I know many of you from other venues, but there are members here I've not yet had the pleasure of meeting. So, I was wondering, do any of you write any fanfiction? If so, don't be shy; we'd love to read some new work. And, if you're considering it, but a little hesitant, drop on over to the forum at fanfiction.net. We've got story starters, plot bunnies, etc, all designed to encourage ever more fic. www.fanfiction.net/fl/1884/0/1/Hope to be hearing from you.

Oh, yes, we are a pretty loose bunch, except at feeding time. Toss the bunnies in over the fence and stand back.

Oh, no that's an ugly image. You know full well, I pick mine up, carry them to synthetic-down filled baskets and nurture them. Poor homeless bunnies. Won't some kind person adopt a bunny? Check our our available cute bunnies and give one a home, won't you?

Arghhhh! Now bunnies are haunting me in my sleep! I had a dream last night about Mark and Milt and it was definitely a scene from a fan fic. And none that I had imagined before (definitely pre- Julie). So as I was lying there in the middle of the night, I created more circumstances to fit that darn scene and lo and behold a full blown story emerged. So much so, that I had to get up and write it all down before I forgot. But I don't have time to write another story, how can this happen to me? It's just not fair!! Arghhh!!

Well, heck, Karie, it sounds like the hard part's already done; you've got the whole thing worked out. How much time could it take just to put it down on paper? (Or monitor screen?) Go ahead; we'll wait.

You're gonna wait a long time. For me 20 pages of notes turns into 80 pages on the computer. It seems as I'm typing, little subplots and dialogue keep poofing from my fingertips. Half of what I get down in the final copy were not in the original story. And I have absolutely NO control over this. My fingers actually write the story, I'm just along for the ride.

One of our long-time members has asked that authors consider doing a story about discrimination and how Hardcastle and McCormick would deal with that. Any kind of discrimination would do -- racial, sexual, height-challenged. Anyone out there have any ideas that might fit?

The only idea that keeps popping to the surface is of HC&M dealing with a gut-level repulsion toward the person they are attempting to help. Sort of a challenge to overcome a personal prejudice. I've had one of these lately myself, which could serve to feed a story with some potential, or else derail yet another project in its infancy.

Hmm, that could be quite interesting. I did one years ago about racial tensions and I think the idea here was based on sexual orientation bias, but I could totally see a good story coming out of HC&McC having to battle their own preconceived notions to help a victim. Or, here's another thought. Maybe they would bend over backwards to help a transvestite who'd been attacked because of his (or her) cross-dressing. Turns out the person is a real weasel, a jerk and proud of it. The guys' initial goodwill turns to irritation and then anger and they have to work out that it's okay to treat the victim with the same animosity they would any other jackass.
Now there's a plot bunny for someone!

Here's another plot bunny.
Mark has gone undercover several times, such as when he was a cop and a student in a crime school. What if the guys have to help someone who is gay, and Mark goes undercover as a gay friend of the victim. He experiences prejudice firsthand, and he and Milt have to deal with it.

All right, now the gears are turning. Undercover. Posing as gay friend. Transvestite bar. Less-than-sympathetic original victim. Let's see where this goes.
