Hello all.
Just though that this may be a bit of a fun thread, so how/when did you discover H&M? Did you tune in from the pilot onwards? Was the show recommended to you? Did you find the show by accident? Did you discover it via the old sets of VHSs floating about a few years ago?
And (with all respect to the U.S & other countries members) I'd especially love to read of how U.K H&M fans discovered the show. Why did it stick with you for so long (especially as we only got one season shown!!!)
I won't bore you with my memories as I've already done this on previous threads so I hand the floor over to you guys!!
Peace to all.

I came in 15 minutes into "Something's Going On on This Train" and was immediately hooked. The strong element of humor, the rapport between characters, those wonderful car chases ( ). Then I was lucky enough to have a big dish when the episodes were put up for syndication. I got every single episode, complete and uncut on video tape, except for "Crystal Duck" which was missing two minutes, but that's a long, boring story.

Discovered it completley by accident - the first episode I saw was the episode before 'another round of that old song'. I'm ashamed to say it but I can't remember which episode that was in the UK. Anyway I loved it enough to tape the next episode and then, the next one which was 'Georgia Street motors' I do believe - (I may have got these round the wrong way please forgive a bad memory), and at the end of that episode the on screen announcer said the dreaded words 'And that was the last in the present series' - I was to say the least not happy!! The next episodes to appear were 'The homecoming' at some ridiculous time in the AM a few months later and then........nothing!!!!!
Many years later I manage to get 3rd/4th generation copies, some of which are quite badly cut.
The one thing that really sticks in my memory was the way some ITV continuity announcers were advertising this show - 'The new Bodie and Doyle' and 'America's answer to The Professionals'.
Yep had me rolling on the floor laughing too.

I started watching the summer of '88. I was in high school, and didn't have anything to do during the summer and found that they were showing repeats of Hardcastle & McCormick at 11 a.m. every day. I can't remember which episode I saw first, but I think it only took a day or two before I was glued to the TV and made sure I was home at 11 a.m. every day. The male bonding was the key for me, I'm a sucker for all male bonding shows.

Watched it from the beginning. I was already a Stephen Cannell fan, liked Brian Keith, and knew of Danny from his days on Ryan's Hope. But the main reason I watched was Cannell. He has always had a way with buddy series. I suffered through the football game to wait for the pilot to to begin and taped every episode.

It was either do not go gentle or bday present. I'm still trying to recollect the moment I discovered this show. It was during syndication.
do not go gentle was just great, I think when I started to watch the part when they were sailing and Mark gets nailed by that sail and nearly falls off the boat, that's when I was hooked for sure.
I wasn't sure when the show was on at the time but when I did find it the eppys I did watch were really enjoyable. Something going on this train, bday present and then if you can see what I see. I think at that moment not only was I hooked, but I was hooked on DHK. I think he's one of the most charismatic actors I have ever seen.
It's just too bad we don't get to see enough of him, or he can't seem to find a series that will stick.
I actually liked black jack savage (he looked really yummy there. I really liked the blond hair). And Second Noah was a real charm, and ABC messed up on this one. They should never have cancelled it too soon. Jerks.
anyways. Glad to have experienced the number of episodes we had watching hardcastle and mccormick, even though there were only 3 seasons, they were worth every moment

When I was really small, I wasn't into cartoons, as much as most small children. I liked watching regular shows, and my father was big on the shows of the time, which was the mid-80's. One of the shows he watched was "H&McC", and it just hooked me. Sadly the show seemingly disappeared in most places after only a few years in syndication since it ended, but even though I was little I kept it in my memory as I got older.
Now i'm all grown up, and a show I loved when I was 2-3, is still my favorite show ever to this day.

I had known and loved DHK from Ryan's Hope and when I saw he was going to be in a new show and it was with Brian Keith (loved Family Affair and Parent Trap) I knew there was no way I would miss it. And I never did.
And my best memory was during my Christmas break from college, my dad took me with him to LA and we drove right past Gull's Way. You know I made him turn around and pull in. Unfortunately the inner gates were closed and among the several cars parked near the street (an ABC van amongst them) there was a police car. So needless to say I didn't try to get any further. But I'll never forget that moment.
Then we went back to the hotel room and since it was Monday night I made my dad watch H and Mc.

Okay, I'm like Liz. I watched a lot of Cannel productions, knew DHK from Ryan's Hope and loved BK ever since I was a little girl watching Family Affair. So I watched the series from the very beginning until the very end. Didn't miss an episode. Never seen it in syndication though. Hey, what can I say, I grew up on a farm and didn't really have much in the way of syndication choices. Sad but true. The main reason I watched...good question. Probably the combo of all three: Cannell, DHK, and BK. How could they have gone wrong with that?

Junior year in high school....1983! I've watched it since the beginning. I was always a Brian Keith fan (Family Affair reruns and his films).
The Greatest American Hero was just canceled, and I was totally bummed out in a major way. Along came Hardcastle and McCormick and I was hooked! ;D
