This is my second post here, and it is a few questions about the closing credits:
1. First, at least in the Sunday episodes from 1983-84, was there a voiceover from an ABC announcer telling viewers what would be next on the Sunday Night Movie? Reason why I asked is that I seem to recall that in the original airings, there was one; also, as I recall, the Sunday Night Movie came on after "Hardcastle and McCormick."
2. Secondly, what was the format of the closing credits? Would I be correct if I guessed that it was action, credits, action, credits, etc.? (By that, I mean, they'd play some action from the episode, then show the credits, and then repeat that until the end, all to the closing theme version of "Drive" or "Back to Back"-- would I be correct?)
3. Finally, I have just gotten the first season's worth from Amazon. Do these DVD's have the original Cannell logo that was seen all those years ago (that is to say, the "man at the typewriter" logo)?

Hi Ben, Welcome to the world that is Hardcatle & McCormick....
The DVD's are basically ad-free...meaning even ABC's 'promo read' over the closing credits has been removed. It's all H&M
The closing credit is indeed scenes from the episode, with a freeze frame of the shot as the particular credit or graphic is posted. The interesting thing with the closing credits is they often use a slightly different scene other than the one that was actually in the show...so it's almost like getting an extra peek into some 'new' footage.
Yes, the DVD's have the original Cannell logo at the end.

Those closing credits where they showed extended or new scenes from the show made you wish they did a dvd version with the extended scenes in them.
I don't know why but I always found deleted scenes put more meaning to the finished product. As if those deleted scenes help make the episode or movie better than originally aired.

I figured that the DVD's were promo-free; I appreciate you confirming that. What I meant was that, for those who saw it the first time when it was originally on in '83, did it have the aforementioned ABC voiceover?
I do appreciate it being confirmed that Stephen J. Cannell's logo was included on these discs. His logo is one of my favorites, and I did not want to waste money on something that did not have it.
I appreciate the responses very much.

Unfortunately, I only came across the show in 1985, but I can tell you that ABC did voiceover promos on the credits then, so I assume they did along. Not much help there, sorry.

No problem at all-- any help that you can give is absolutely wonderful. I really do appreciate it.
