I have to admit, I was one of those people who remembered "Back to Back" being introduced in season 3. Of course, that was 20 some-oddyears ago. My memory could be wrong. I was in High School, so mind was on other things...
I popped DVD 1 from season 2 this evening. Much to my surprise, "Back to Back" is used as the theme song. Even though I always preferred "Drive", "Back to Back" is growing on me.
Here's the kicker. There are 2 versions of "Back to Back". Some of you may have known this already. There is one by Joey Scarbury (I think) and another more country-sounding, which IMO is pretty bad. I've only watch 1 disc so far, but it looks like they alternated the 2 versions from episode to episode.
Regardless, It's on DVD...that's all I could ask for!

I recalled back to back, but for the life of me never recalled this lame slower country type version till i started watching this set. I have to fast forward it that's how much i hate it. I love the other version though.
Does anyone recall this version from the original broadcasts ? eeeeeeeeeeeek

I've really always liked B2B, but this version is just a little bit on the awful side. And, heck, I'm a C&W fan even.

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one! I remember the "Scarbury" version of "Back to Back" at the beginning of season two, but I don't remember that country version at all! Can someone confirm if, indeed, that version was on the original broadcasts? I think I would've remembered that. By the way, I was also very pleased when they went back to the "Drive" theme halfway through the season.

It kinda sounds like some cheap computer midi version that's usually played on fan's websites.

You Know what is weird aswell as i finish disc 3 it is back to the S1 opening and theme drive which shouldnt be here same with disc 4 first 2 episodes s1 opening and theme drive. Hmm i think vei messed this up with the intro's but i am still happy episodes are intact. I dunno if rest of the season is all S1 theme or not yet as i have 6 episodes left to watch.

I just noticed you posted about this.. I like drive but in the original airings they didn't go back to it middle of season did they? my memory says no cuz s3 was also back to back.. but i can't be 100% sure on that as it is over 20 years.

xmulderx, Yes, they did go back to "Drive" midway through season two. I remember them doing this at the time. I believe season three alternates between the two themes. But what I don't remember is that slow, country version of "Back to Back"...Ever!

Well, I don't remember them ever going back to B2B in season three; I think part of S2 is all we ever heard of it. Which, I have to say, I always thought was unfortunate. As much as I like Drive, I thought Back to Back was a nice evolution, musically moving us forward with the relationship. Really, I would've liked a third theme in S3, but I'm kind of quirky that way. And, I have to concur with the masses, if I haven't said so already; this countrified version of B2B really sort of bites.

I just started watching Season 2 (Canadian release) on DVD and I don't remember the "country" version of Back to Back either. Joey's version is far superior. I will have to dig out my old VHS tapes and see if I recorded any of the shows with the "country" version of Back to Back. Its been over 20 years, but I still cannot recall hearing that version, only Joey's version.
