Terrible admitting this on a Hardcastle & McCormick site, but I don't really know much about our two guys. However, what little I know, I'd say of the ones listed, The Rockford Files would make the most entertaining crossover episode. I wish I could explain why, but it's difficult.

Last year when I got Season 1 on DVD, I think that was like the first time since I was 6 or 7 that I even saw an episode of the show. I truly had no idea what it was about cause I had gotten so much older over the years and was too little to understand what it actually was the last time I had seen it. I just recognized the title and read about the show on IMDb and its websites. That's when I found out what it actually was about and wanted it to be released on DVD so I could see it when I was old enough to actually understand it. I have not recognized any episodes that I saw on both Season 1 & 2. I just remembered an old man and a young guy with thick brown hair riding around in a cool looking red car (kinda silly looking for today's standards). Anyway, I bring that up because I noticed you said you did not know too much about Hardcase and Skid. I would not dare consider myself an expert on this show because I have only watched each of the episodes for Seasons 1 & 2 just one time since I got them. It has been almost an entire year since I saw the episodes for the first season and several months ones for the second season. But anyway, I do know enough about these two guys to compare them to other characters. So why can't you? Have you never been on www.angelfire.com/tv2/coyote/ and read about Hardcase & Skid? Milton C. "Hardcase" Hardcastle- www.angelfire.com/tv2/coyote/site_milt/site_milt.htmMark "Skid" McCormick- www.angelfire.com/tv2/coyote/site_mark/site_mark.htm

But, I do think comparing characters probably isn't enough to get you to a place where you're necessarily comfortable suggesting a crossover. Someone way back when this thread was originally started made the point that you have to consider the overall feel of the show. (I don't know who said it, and I'm not sure that's exactly what they said, but I am fairly confident that's what they meant!) Anyway, the point is, there has to be a lot meshing up--IMHO-- to make a successful crossover. For instance, from this list, Wiseguy is probably my favorite "other SJC" show, but I would never suggest a crossover between the two. I could tell you about all the similarities between the characters, (differences, too), and I could tell you why I think they'd probably even get along. But I can also tell you that I wouldn't like a story that featured both sets of characters, because one group or the other would "feel" wrong, even if they were doing and saying all the right things, because the overall feel of these original shows was so different. If an author successfully managed to capture that feel for one of them, the other would simply be out of place. Does that make any sense at all? And, anyway, the point I was trying in a horribly long-winded way to get to, is to say that I don't think you can necessarily identify that by reading about the characters; you're only going to know that feel by watching the show and getting to know the guys in your own way.

If they were to do a crossover episode, I would pick The A-Team. Whenever I watch Hardcastle & McCormick I am so reminded of the A-Team, especially at the end of almost every episode when Mark chases someone with the Coyote, and the car does a flip over a car, and crashes. It's so much like The A-Team, it's not even funny. But I think the 2 of these shows would have great crossover appeal because both of them are great action shows, but they also have some great comedic moments. I think a crossover would make both shows a lot better. I'm surprised they never did a crossover, considering people like Patrick Hasburgh, and most of the writers for Cannell's company did write episodes of A-Team, and Hardcastle & McCormick at one time or another.
